Poste restante
With Poste restante you can receive mail even if you do not have a permanent address. Your mail is sent to and stored at a selected post office where you can pick it up.
How to use Poste restante
Poste restante is a free service for private individuals and is offered at the post office in Mariehamn and at the postal terminal in Sviby.
Addressing
The sender must address your letters and parcels with the Poste restante address as follows:
Your first name and surname
POSTE RESTANTE
Postal code and post town
Example:

Keep in mind:
- You must be able to prove your identity with a valid identity document when you pick up items from a Poste restante address. If you want someone else to pick up your mail, that person must have a power of attorney from you.
- Items that are not picked up within one month are returned to the sender.
- If an item has a specified storage time, it is returned once that time has passed if it has not been picked up.
- Only the post office whose Poste restante address you use has information about which items are held there. Items cannot be forwarded to another service point for pickup.
- Poste restante is intended for temporary use and must not be used as a permanent address.
- If Åland Post suspects that the service is being misused, the service may be terminated with immediate effect.
