Åland Post recommends placing mailboxes in groups. As well as more efficient and faster delivery, grouped mailboxes are good for the environment.
Where should the mailbox be placed?
If four households place their mailboxes together in a group, the mail van only needs to stop once instead of four times, which reduces the number of stops and starts. This is good for the environment and improves road safety.

Shared mailbox stand
Mailboxes placed in a group do not have to be mounted on a shared stand, but to make things easier for the mail carrier, it helps if the mailboxes in a group are at about the same height. Otherwise, we recommend building a shared mailbox stand. Below you will find our recommendation for how it can be designed.
The right address makes mail delivery smoother
For mail delivery to run as smoothly as possible, it is important that every item has the recipient's name and clear address details. You also help the mail carrier deliver correctly if your mailbox is marked with the household's full street address and the names of everyone living in the household.
