Order goods from Ikea in Sweden, and Åland Post takes care of the transport

Please note! From 1 October 2024, an export declaration is required for goods transported from Sweden to Åland due to changes in Swedish export rules. If you would like help with the export declaration, we recommend that you contact us in advance.
1. Visit or contact Ikea and place your order.

2. Contact Åland Post's transport planning team
To book the freight of your Ikea goods from Åland Post's terminal in Hägersten (Stockholm) to Åland, contact the transport planning team at Åland Post:

- Please note! After Ikea has sent you a notification and the goods have arrived at the terminal in Hägersten (Stockholm), the goods are sorted. This means that the loading date for the freight to Åland may be several days later than the delivery date Ikea has notified you of.
3. When the goods have arrived in Åland
- When the goods have arrived in Åland, Åland Post will contact you on the phone number you gave Ikea to book a delivery time.
- Delivery is included in Åland Post's freight price within the main Åland islands and to Vårdö.
- You must be at home to receive the goods when Åland Post's driver arrives.
- The goods must be unloaded immediately. No load carriers can be left with you.
- If needed, the driver can help carry the goods indoors. This is charged extra.
- Please note that the delivery date from Ikea indicates when the goods are expected to be at the terminal in Hägersten (Stockholm).
How VAT works
When you buy from Ikea in Sweden, Swedish VAT of 25% is added. Ikea does not deduct this VAT because Ikea is represented in Finland and therefore has no routines for selling without VAT. This means that you first pay the Swedish VAT when you buy and then the Finnish VAT of 25.5% when the goods arrive in Åland.
Reclaiming the VAT
You can reclaim the Swedish VAT by sending the receipt for the goods and the import documents to Ikea's head office. Remember to give your IBAN account number so the refund can be paid to your bank account.
