Post a Hello! – Part 3: Letters for Valentine’s Day
During the project “Post a Hello!” we have been following class 4C at Strandnäs School. In the third and final part, the students wrote and sent letters ahead of Valentine’s Day.
The students thought about their messages and wrote greetings on old-fashioned letter paper, placed them in envelopes together with a Valentine’s Day card they had created in art class, and then posted them in the nearest mailbox.
The letters were sent to relatives and friends in Åland, Finland and Sweden – and some even all the way to Poland and Scotland.
Here is how the students describe their experiences:
- I sent mine to my best friend who had just had surgery. / Jana
- The most fun part is posting the letters and knowing they will really arrive. / Nora
- I sent mine to my grandma and grandpa because they don’t receive many letters. / Lilo
- I learned that stamps have different values. / Jonah
Through the project, the students practiced writing personal messages, addressing envelopes, and discovering how the postal system works in practice.
A big thank you to class 4C for generously sharing their work with Post a Hello!
We hope the joy of writing continues and that the students remember how a few small words can make a big difference in a handwritten letter.
