Mail on the Move – with New E-Bikes in Mariehamn

For mail delivery in Mariehamn, we have long been using e-bikes. Now, our mail carriers have received new bikes that make their delivery rounds a little easier and more efficient.

Every morning, they set out on the city’s streets – in sun, rain, and snow. Year-round, regardless of the weather, they make sure the mail reaches its destination.

Designed for Mail Delivery
The e-bikes are different from regular bikes and are adapted for the job. Among other features, they have a specially designed kickstand that keeps the bike stable when the carrier stops.

The bikes are built to handle heavy loads. At the front is a spacious bag, and at the back, there are two more. When there is extra mail to deliver, a bike trailer can be attached.

8,750 Kilometers Without Emissions
The bikes are primarily charged using solar energy from the post terminal’s solar panels.

On average, the mail carriers cycle almost 35 kilometers together each day. Over a year, that adds up to 8,750 kilometers – all without emissions.
